Hi! I’m Harriet. Yep, that’s right, just like your great-grandma’s best friend. In fact, I was named after my grandmother and have followed in her crafting footsteps most of my life. The desire to make things using my hands was fostered from a young age by both my grandmother and my father. While my grandmother taught me to knit, wheat-weave (yep that’s a thing), and sew, my father taught me to never be afraid of a power tool. The curiosity for how things go together and the enjoyment for seeing it done led me to my day job as an architect.
As an architect, I get to design and make spaces that affect people every day. My hand embroidery allows me to design and make at a small scale. Both allow me the opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face daily.
In 2015, I ran out of friends to gift my embroidery to and began Circle G Goods. The creation of Circle G Goods allowed me to come full circle with my childhood love for making. While my father taught me early on the joy of power tools, he was also making and selling handmade wooden toys. He would brand each toy on the bottom with a capital G inside a circle on the bottom. As I thought about how to brand myself and my goods for my new venture, I couldn’t think of a better way than to honor the tradition of making instilled in me by my father than to be the little g.
Combining my newfound love of embroidery with my enjoyment of crafts and wood, I hand select fabrics appropriate to each theme and finish the backs with a wooden circle ready to hang for a complete finished look.
I have always enjoyed a good pun and am loving the opportunity to combine my humor with my desire to make people smile as I create new series of hoops.
The Punny Pet Series is the original series and has been inspired by my own two personal pets (Gladys the cat & Jackson the dog). My pets are a huge part of my life, and I am sure yours are too.
The Under the Influence Series came next combining my love for craft beer and wine, who doesn’t enjoy a good beverage? Since then, I have added themes including other food & beverage (Brews & Chews), holidays (Festive & Feisty), and design based humor (Comic Sans Design). There is always something new that makes me giggle and needs to be stitched!
